Julia Pritchard

Julia Pritchard - Special Services Director
Julia earned her bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Michigan. She later earned a master’s degree in Special Education Supervision from Eastern Michigan University. She also holds an MSW from Grand Valley State University. Prior to coming to Barre Town Julia worked in Brighton, Michigan as Assistant Special Education Director, where she served a school district with 6,800 students. Julia and her husband Hugh currently reside in Montpelier with their 15-month-old daughter Clare.

Tamara Cooley

Tamara Cooley – 4th grade teacher
Tamara received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Goddard College. She has been deeply involved with Barre Town School for several years. She has been a one-on-one paraeducator in grades 2, 3, and 4 since 1997. Tamara and her husband have been married for 21 years and live in Barre Town. They have two children.

Louise Low

Louise Low – 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts teacher
Louise graduated from the College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor, Maine. She later attended the Upper Valley Teacher Institute where she earned her Vermont Educators License. She previously taught in Oaxaca, Mexico and Ladakh, India. She served Barre Town Middle and Elementary School in the past, first as an intern in 2006 and later as a long-term substitute in 2008. She also interned at Montpelier High School in 2007. Louise resides in East Calais.

Brent White

Brent White – Instrumental Music teacher
Brent is a graduate of Johnson State College, where he earned his BA in music. He received a Certificate of Advanced Studies from UVM and has additional graduate study at Norwich University. Most recently he served as Music Director at Chittenden Central for grades 4-8. He has also taught at Barre City and Morristown. Brent has also been an adjunct professor at Johnson State and acted as an ensemble manager for the Vermont All-State Music Festival. Brent lives in Duxbury

Molly McClellan

Molly McClellan - Special Education
Molly becomes the newest member of Team II as a special educator. She earned an undergraduate degree in elementary education from Skidmore College and her Master’s Degree in special education from Northern Colorado. She previously spent eight years as a special education teacher at Cherry Creek High School and at Bruce Randolph School and Morey Middle School in Denver, Colorado. Molly is a former field hockey All-American and is an avid skier. She currently resides in Montpelier.

Lauren Mears

Lauren Mears – Kindergarten
Montpelier native Lauren Mears enters her first year as Kindergarten teacher at BTMES. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Keene State College (KSC), where she graduated in 2008 with a double major in Elementary Education and Psychology. Lauren did her student-teaching at Jaffrey Grade School, Jaffrey, NH. While an undergraduate student she spent time at Barre Town as a one-on-one tutor and substitute teacher. At KSC Lauren was on the Dean’s list and a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an education honors society. She lives in Barre.

Sally Kulis

Sally Kulis – Kindergarten
Sally graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She earned her Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Lesley College. She has previously taught in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She and her husband have two grade school age daughters and a “crazy dog”. They reside in Waterbury and enjoy all winter sports, camping, and hiking.

Teresa MacAdams

Teresa MacAdams – Duplicating / Supply Clerk
Teresa is a Barre Town School and Spaulding High School graduate. She has served BTMES for many years as a volunteer and PTO president. She has extensive experience as a bookkeeper, file clerk and receptionist. Teresa and her husband Mark are the proud parents of Scott, a fourth- grade student at Barre Town. They live in Barre.

Pamela Campbell

Pamela Campbell – Technology Paraeducator
Pamela received an engineering degree from Providence College. An active educator, she has served Union Elementary School and Main Street Middle School as a classroom volunteer, coordinator for Environmental Learning for the Future and mentor/reading partner for Everybody Wins! Vermont. She has also worked at Hunger Mountain Co-op, Campbell Carpentry and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Vermont.

 

 

Deanna Bailey

Deanna Bailey – Team II Paraeducator
Deanna graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a biology degree. She has also studied at Johnson State, Union Institute, Montana State, and UVM. She previously worked at Barre Town School as Science Curriculum Specialist. Deanna has worked for the Vermont Department of Education as a Science Assessment Advisory Board member. Deanna and her husband Christopher live in Barre Town with their two boys, Solon and William.

Patricia Tursi

Patricia Tursi – ESL
Patty earned her undergraduate degree in history from UVM and a Master’s of Art degree from St. Michael’s College. An accomplished professional, she previously taught English as a Foreign Language for four years in Naples, Italy and three years in Brazil. She has also taught at St. Michael’s and spent time in private business. Patty recently transitioned to public schools and is thrilled with the potential for personal and professional growth associated with her tenure at Barre Town. She is an avid skier and cyclist and resides in Burlington.

Mike Olson

Mike Olson – Administrative Intern
Mike is spending the year as a Principal Intern under Dr. Ted Riggen. He holds degrees from St. Norbert College and Norwich University. He is earning an advanced certificate in Educational Leadership from the Upper Valley Teacher Institute, Lebanon, New Hampshire. Mike previously lectured in physical education and coached basketball at the college level for two decades. Prior to joining BTMES Mike served as Executive Director of the Woodstock Recreation Center. Mike and his wife Colleen have been married 26 years and have two adult children. They live in South Strafford.

P.J. LaPerle Philip J. LaPerle (P. J.) - Student Assistance Professional
P.J. recently joined Barre Town Middle and Elementary School as a half-time Student Assistance Professional. He will also be working half-time at Spaulding High School in this same position. P. J. has been working with youth in the Central Vermont area as a coach and mentor for fifteen years. For the past 11 years, he has worked at Washington County Youth Service Bureau. He graduated from Community College of Vermont and Spaulding High School. Most recently he has worked on the Cityscape Afterschool Program, planning, organizing, and facilitating activities for youth in a variety of genre ranging from academic enrichment, arts and crafts, personal wellness, and recreation for students in grades 5-8. P. J. lives in East Montpelier with his wife, Kelsey, and two children, Alicen and Max.
